Candle Making At-Home Kit
What you need
1. 1 lb of Soy wax – included in kit
2. 1 wick – 15 included in kit
3. Glue – Hot glue preferably
4. A pot & stove OR a microwave safe bowl and microwave
5. A heat safe container – 2 jars included
Optional
1. Glitter
2. Old candles
3. Crayons
4. Stickers
5. Scents
6. Other jars/mugs etc
Instructions
For stove top
1. Prepare your jar or other candle holder by gluing a wick to the bottom. If you have a larger container add 2 or 3 wicks so that the candle can burn evenly
2. Fill a pot halfway with water then bring water to a simmer on the stove
3. Fill a jar with wax and set the jar into the water. (you could also use a double boiler)
4. Let the wax melt and make sure to stir it! You can melt the wax out of another candle to mix or layer as well!
5. Once the wax is melted and the wick is adhered, carefully pour the wax into your container. Make sure to leave enough room for about an inch of wick out of the wax. You can layer colors, make fun patterns, or just have a solid candle.
6. If you are using scents make sure to mix in the scent before the candle has hardened. The same rule applies if you are recycling other candles.
7. If the wick keeps falling over you can fold the top over a popsicle stick.
8. Let the candle harden then decorate the jar! You can add glitter, paint, tissue paper, stickers, ect. to the outside of the jar.
9. Voila you have a finished candle! Congratulations!
Feel free to post a picture with #IRLmade or shoot us an email. We would love to see your work!
