Jake Juracka, one of our lab specialists, has been hard at work making protective equipment as a part of the IRL’s support initiative! Here’s his update:
“Starting on Thursday, March 26th I began work on 3D printing Personal Protective Masks to distribute to those in need. Using five 3D printers that are on loan to me from the IRL Lab, I’ve been able to set up a print shop in my basement here in the suburbs. Over the past 7 days, Jay Margalus and I have been able to print, assemble, and package 120 protective shields.
On Thursday, April 2nd I was able to deliver these 120 shields to the Lockport, IL City Hall where they will be distributed via the Lockport Police Department to local hospitals and clinics. As we are ramping up production in the South Suburban Node, we hope to be able to deliver 150 shields per week moving forward.”
