Here’s a quick tutorial on how to post process y

Here’s a quick tutorial on how to post process your 3D prints here at the IRL💙 You can paint directly on 3D prints but if you’re looking for a way to get rid of layer lines you can use this priming coat and sand it before painting to make a smoother surface! Some additional Tips:

💙Use a respirator and gloves while sanding, don’t want to inhale all those small particles!
💙Use short light bursts for painting, letting the color build up slowly so you don’t end up with an uneven surface!
💙Make sure your primer is COMPLETELY dry before sanding… Sometimes it seems dry but the underneath is not, let it sit for at least an hour before sanding.
💙Start with low grit sandpaper and work your way up! I started with 100 grit then went to 150 then to 300 grit. The higher the number the smoother the sandpaper.
💙Use a matte or shiny clear coat of spray paint after you’ve added your paint to seal everything in so it doesn’t chip!

Check out the work Lab Specialist Evelyn has on display in these three upcoming exhibits!

At 21Minus, she made a big bear called “Absence of a Hug” where when you hug the bear, the place you have hugged changes color to show the warmth of a hug. It will be on display for a one-day exhibit at the MCA!

She also will have her art thesis show with the art school, where she implemented 3D printing for her project.

And finally, she has an art piece called Bearing Life where she made her own fabric out of money at the IRL to make a little bear made of money, and she will also have some collages she made on display (trigger warning: the bear is holding a noose).
